I had a fantastic stay at the Hotel David Whitney; the unique architecture and historical vibe really set it apart. The staff, particularly at check-in, were incredibly welcoming, making me feel right at home. However, my experience with valet parking left a lot to be desired, as my car came back with scratches, which was frustrating and remains unresolved. Overall, I'd definitely come back for the comfort and service, but I hope for a smoother valet experience next time.

My room was spacious and beautifully designed with comfortable bedding that helped me rest well. The cleanliness was on point, but I did notice that only one robe was provided for a two-person booking.
Service

The check-in staff were amazing, especially Desmon and Jonathan, who were super friendly and attentive throughout my stay. They made my arrival nice. However, my experience with valet service was disappointing, as my car was scratched and I felt the hotel could have responded faster about it.

This hotel's location is prime, making it really convenient to hit up nearby restaurants and event venues. I loved how close I was to everything, especially for attending shows around downtown Detroit.

I enjoyed the pastries and coffee available from the local James Oliver coffee shop; it was a nice touch to my mornings. I wish breakfast was included in my stay since the restaurant menu looked appealing but felt a bit pricey.
Facilities

The hotel is well-equipped, with valet parking and convenient amenities like laundry and snack options, but my valet experience caused some issues that dampened my feelings about the service.

I really enjoyed my stay at Hotel David Whitney! The beautiful historic architecture and unique charm made it a delight to experience. However, I did have some issues, particularly with parking, and found that breakfast wasn't included which was a bit of a disappointment given the cost. Overall, I would return for the comfort and location near the sports venues.

The staff were really good, really going above and beyond to assist. A manager, Rich, took time to resolve an issue I had with my points, turning a frustrating situation into a positive one. This kind of service added to my overall experience remarkably.

The hotel's location was stellar, just a quick walk from Comerica Park and Ford Field, making it perfect for a sports event! It was also close to restaurants and attractions, which I loved.

While the hotel offered some appealing dining options, the prices felt steep, especially since breakfast wasn't included. The bar area was quite inviting, where I enjoyed a few cocktails post-event.

My stay at Hotel David Whitney was fantastic, marked by really good service and a stunning historical charm. The spacious renovated room offered beautiful views of downtown, though I experienced minor issues with the showerhead and lighting that could be improved. The location was perfect for exploring Detroit, with easy access to various attractions, making it an ideal spot for both leisure and business travelers.

The corner suite was very spacious and comfortable, featuring a large flat-screen TV and a beautifully modern bathroom design. It provided a great night's sleep thanks to the comfortable bedding and blackout curtains, though the showerhead could have been better.

6.4/10

My stay at Hotel David Whitney was a blend of charm and a few hiccups. The decor and historical elements truly transport you back in time while the location couldn't be more ideal for exploring downtown Detroit. However, service issues such as the charging errors, along with a fragile bathroom door, took away from an otherwise wonderful experience.

Rooms
6.0
The room was spacious and had a luxurious bath. yet, the mattress was a bit sunken in the middle, affecting my sleep. I also found the storage for clothes and toiletries somewhat limited, which was a minor inconvenience.
Service
7.0
Although I had initial issues with wrong charges, I appreciated the friendly attitude of staff like Jelene and Theron, who made efforts to assist. Unfortunately, some staff could have been quicker to address room issues that remained unresolved during my stay.
Location
9.0
The hotel is perfectly located near restaurants and both stadiums, making it easy to explore the area. The accessibility to the People Mover line and proximity to local theaters were major plus points for me.
Dining
7.0
While I enjoyed the energetic atmosphere at the hotel bar, I felt that the dining options on-site were a bit pricey, especially for breakfast. The limited coffee service times also made mornings challenging.
Facilities
6.0
Facilities were generally well-maintained, although I wished for amenities like a business center for virtual meetings. The common areas were nicely designed but some needed reservation for use, which felt restrictive.

Overall, my stay at the Hotel David Whitney had its ups and downs. The beautiful architecture and the spaciousness of the room with a city view impressed me greatly. However, there were some frustrations, particularly with the service inconsistencies and lack of breakfast options. Despite a lovely atmosphere, certain aspects left me wanting more.

Rooms
8.0
I found the room to be nicely decorated and quite spacious. It was comfortable and had a great view, but I noticed a lack of storage space and no microwave or kettle.
Service
6.0
While some staff were friendly and helpful, my experience dealing with valet was a bit frustrating as it took longer than expected to retrieve my car. Additionally, I had to visit the front desk multiple times for issues with my room keycard.
Location
10.0
The hotel's location was fantastic, right in the heart of Detroit. It was convenient for dining and attending events, making it easy to explore the surrounding area.
Dining
5.0
The dining options were limited since the restaurant is operated by a third party, and I wasn’t able to access breakfast despite the hotel's expectations from the Bonvoy program. This was disappointing when the rules weren't honored.
Facilities
7.0
The hotel had a wonderful atmosphere with a nice bar and multiple pantry options for snacks. However, the amenities felt a bit lacking compared to what I would expect from a high-end facility.
